Two labels can come from different places
A saved contact name is the label you chose in your phone. A caller ID name can be based on information available for the number. Because those sources are different, the names may not match.
What a difference does not prove
A different label does not confirm that the call is from a particular person, or that either name is wrong. Names, number availability, device settings, and account changes can all affect what is displayed.
Review the available context
- Check whether you saved the number correctly.
- Look at the time, voicemail, and any reason you expected a call.
- Use an official contact channel if you need to verify an organization.
Keep expectations realistic
Caller ID can add useful context when information is available, but it should not be treated as a final confirmation of identity. Taking a moment to compare the details can support a more considered response.
